You cannot export images directly from the Webflow Asset panel, but there are workarounds to download and edit them.
1. No Native Download Option in Asset Panel
- Webflow does not provide a download/export button in the Asset panel for images you’ve uploaded.
- The intention is that users manage original assets outside of Webflow before uploading.
2. Use the Designer or Published Site
- Open the Webflow Designer, locate the image on the canvas, and right-click → Open image in new tab (if it's an image element) to access the image URL.
- Alternatively, publish the site and right-click the image on the live site, then choose "Save image as..." to download.
- This method retains the optimized image version Webflow uses, which may be compressed or resized.
3. Use the Asset Manager URL
- In the Asset panel, hover over the image, click the three-dot menu, then click "Copy URL".
- Paste that URL into a new browser tab, then right-click the image and choose "Save image as...".
- This gives you access to how Webflow has stored the image, but again, it may not be the original full-resolution version.
4. Re-upload Original Files Outside of Webflow
- For best quality, always keep a local copy of your original image assets outside Webflow for editing purposes.
- Webflow does not store files in their original form with full metadata or uncompressed formats.
Summary
You can't download images directly from the Webflow Asset panel, but you can retrieve them by using the image URL or from the live site. For original-quality edits, keep a backup of your source files outside Webflow.
