How can I remove a symbol that I've created in Webflow and is now stuck on my page?

TL;DR
  • Unlink the symbol by selecting it and pressing Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + A or using the Symbol panel.
  • Delete the unlinked elements manually from the page.
  • Remove the symbol from the Symbols panel if it's no longer needed in the project.

If a symbol in Webflow is stuck on your page and you want to remove it, follow these steps.

  • Select the symbol in the Designer.
  • In the right-hand Navigator panel, symbols are marked with a green icon.
  • Click Unlink Symbol in the Symbol panel or press Ctrl + Shift + A (Windows) / Cmd + Shift + A (Mac).
  • This converts the symbol into regular elements, allowing you to delete or modify them.

2. Delete the Symbol from the Page

  • Once unlinked, select all elements that were part of the symbol.
  • Click Delete or press Backspace/Del on your keyboard.

3. Remove the Symbol from the Library (If Needed)

  • Go to the Symbols panel (located in the left toolbar).
  • Find the symbol you want to remove.
  • Click the three-dot menu next to the symbol and choose Delete.
  • This will permanently remove the symbol from your Webflow project.

Summary

To remove a static symbol from your Webflow page, unlink it first, then delete the elements manually. If you no longer need the symbol anywhere in your project, delete it from the Symbols panel.
