How can I duplicate a page in Webflow when I receive a maximum number of pages error message for the template I am using?

TL;DR
  • Check your current Webflow plan and page usage under Site Settings → Plans & Billing.
  • Delete unused static pages, reuse content via Symbols, switch to CMS collections for dynamic pages, or upgrade your plan to increase page limits.

You're encountering a maximum number of pages error because your Webflow template or plan has hit its page limit. Webflow enforces these limits based on the site plan or template used. Here's how to work around this issue.

1. Understand Page Limits in Webflow

  • Free and basic plans allow for fewer static pages (e.g., 2 static pages on the free Starter plan).
  • CMS and Business plans offer higher limits (e.g., 100 static pages).
  • Templates also inherit your account’s site limitations regardless of design; a template by itself does not increase page limits.

2. Review Your Current Plan

  • Go to Site SettingsPlans & Billing tab.
  • Confirm what type of site plan is active, and check the current number of static pages used versus the allowed maximum.
  • If you're on the free Starter plan, you'll only have access to 2 static pages.

3. Delete Unused Pages (If Upgrading Isn’t an Option)

  • If you can't upgrade your plan, consider deleting unneeded static pages to make room.
  • Go to the Pages panel (P) → hover over a page → click the settings gear icon → click Delete Page.

4. Save Section Layouts as Reusable Components (Symbols)

  • Instead of duplicating full pages, copy the sections or content you need.
  • Select those sections, then right-click → Create Component/Symbol.
  • You can reuse Symbols on other pages or CMS Templates without creating new static pages.

5. Use CMS Collections Instead of Static Pages

  • If your project allows for a CMS plan, create a Collection (e.g., Blog Posts or Projects).
  • Each CMS item generates a CMS Template Page, which doesn't count toward your static page limit.
  • Use these template pages to simulate duplicated pages by managing layout and content via the CMS.

6. Upgrade to a Higher Plan (If Needed)

  • If you must have more static pages (e.g., for unique designs or marketing pages), upgrade to a CMS or Business site plan.
  • Go to Site Settings → Plans and choose an appropriate tier.

Summary

Webflow restricts static page limits based on your plan. To duplicate a page after hitting the limit, either delete unused pages, reuse content through Symbols, switch to CMS templates, or upgrade your site plan to increase your page limit.
